The Shepherd

The Shepherd

As is tradition for me, I give you the Al Maitland CBC-broadcast reading of Frederick Forsyth’s novella the Shepherd. I have presented this nearly every Christmas Eve/Day that I have had a platform to do so.

First published in 1975, the Shepherd tells the tale of an RAF pilot flying home on Christmas Eve, 1957. The Vampire jet he is flying loses all power and navigation over the North Sea, only to be miraculously guided to safety by a mysterious, vintage WWII-era Mosquito fighter-bomber.
