Random News and Notes 17 January
There is a federal program called colloquially the 8 (a) program. Administered by the Small Business Administration the program ostensibly offers preferential contract bidding processes to businesses owned by those in ‘disadvantaged communities’ and minorities. In other words, DEI for federal contractors. SecWar Pete Hegseth just announced a review of the 9 year old program and the single-source contracts that came from it.
Contracts that don’t boost military lethality will be cut, and pass-through deals where firms take big fees before subcontracting to large consultants will be ended, The review targets deals over $20 million. SBA head Kelly Loeffler is backing the push.
A Biden appointed Federal judge just issued an insane ruling. Judge Kate M. Menendez ordered agents not to retaliate against people “engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity,” or to use pepper spray or other “crowd dispersal tools” in retaliation for protected speech. The judge also said agents could not stop or detain protesters in vehicles who are not “forcibly obstructing or interfering with” agents.
So, they can’t do what they aren’t doing? I expect that the judge wanted to prove her resistance bona fides and not get slapped down by the 8th Circuit. The TRO – as far as I can tell – merely restates current ICE procedures.
I expect the retards protesting are going to push the issue and then bring the matter back to court. We’ll see.
Staying in loon land, there are reports that the DOJ is investigating Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for their roles in the anti-ICE activities in that city.
It should be mentioned this is the second federal investigation involving Walz. He is also being investigated for his role in the $9 billion in health and child care fraud that has been uncovered.
