Four minutes
Sippin a coffee here, I didn’t forget, was rather busy yesterday, about to get busy again today,
The Sacred Sand of Iwo Jima February 23rd
The bloodiest battle of all Marine Corps history
I see the women’s hockey team turned down an invite to the Whitehouse, whatever it took to achieve that dream was made possible by the blanket of Freedom provided them, paid in blood, to share their happiness with the country who afforded them the liberty to accomplish their goal. I found that to be rather selfish on their part.

Marine Cpl. Edward Burckhardt, Yonkers – NY, from the 5th Division and his “captive” kitten that he found at the base of Mount Suribachi. He christened it “Suribachi Sue.“
His nickname was Mr. Indestructible
Jack Lucas became the youngest Marine to earn the Medal of Honor for his actions in Iwo Jima. Enlisting at the age of 14 , he forged his mother’s consent form. Jack would train with the 5th Marine Division for its next operation.

At the age of 17 he found himself on Iwo Jima jumping on not one, but two enemy grenades that landed in his trench. The first grenade exploded sending Jack flying in the air. The other grenade never detonated and was still in the palm of his hand when the corpsman went to work on him. Unfortunately, Jack passed away in 2008 from Leukemia.
Here is John Basilone lookin at the women’s hockey team, ladies, you ain’t about nothin
Sgt. John Basilone stormed Red Beach on Iwo Jima. Pinned down by enemy machine gun fire, he led his gunners up the steep black sand, kicking his inexperienced Marines to get off the beach as they hugged the ground for cover.

Minutes after he single-handedly destroyed a Japanese blockhouse, Basilone and four members of his platoon were killed when an enemy artillery shell exploded. He was 28 years old.
Heard tell the Marine Corps is a branch of the military, that’s not exactly true
We are a Breed apart who has perfected the art of Scrounging

I don’t look like Jack, well… maybe around the eyes a little
