Random News and Notes 11 February
It’s been 11 days since Nancy Guthrie went missing. She was last seen on January 31 in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills. The vulnerable woman with heart issues and limited mobility prompted a massive search by Pima County Sheriff’s Department and FBI. Yesterday the FBI released images of a ‘person of interest’.
Nest camera footage revealed a masked, armed figure tampering with her doorbell the morning she disappeared, and authorities believe she was abducted, citing ransom notes demanding Bitcoin that showed recent activity. A delivery worker detained near the Mexico border was released without charges, as the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team continues pursuing leads with a $50,000 reward offered for tips.
Earlier this morning, the FAA issued a Temporary Flight Restriction over El Paso, Texas, and Santa Teresa, New Mexico, halting all aircraft—including commercial and medevac—for several hours after Mexican cartel drones entered U.S. airspace. Army counter-drone operations at nearby Fort Bliss neutralized the threats, but a lack of coordination between the Pentagon and FAA caught airports and airlines off guard, leading to widespread cancellations.
The restriction lifted by afternoon with the FAA confirming no ongoing threat to commercial flights, though experts noted the unusual shutdown at a major hub serving nearly 1 million residents.
Take this one with a grain of salt, as there is no verification, but it is so amusing it has to be shared. The Doom Pixie has moved onto her next crusade. It is being reported that Greta Thunberg will be part of a flotilla headed to Cuba.
When your whole personality is protests and other attention seeking behaviors this is the expected outcome.
I feel compelled to point out that the only things the US is not allowing into Cuba are petroleum products. Unless the organizers of this flotilla can get their hands on a Panamax tanker filled with oil, they aren’t actually doing anything.
