Random News and Notes 12 February
ICE arrested Jairo Gutierrez-Antunez, a twice deported child sex predator in Los Angeles yesterday. It seems Gutierrez-Antunez ran from a 2017 arrest attempt after ramming an ICE vehicle.
These arrests form part of recent Los Angeles DHS operations, including two Mexican nationals charged with child sex offenses, amid federal focus on removing serious criminals. ICE stressed public safety as coordination with agencies like HSI and ATF leads to pending deportations.
I have a solution for senor Gutierrez-Antunez and those like him:

Sticking with the immigration enforcement theme for a second, voluntary departures have reached an all time high. A record 28% of immigrants in U.S. detention opted for voluntary departure in 2025, rising to 38% by December. Why? Much stricter Trump administration immigration and asylum policies like expanded mandatory detention and fewer bond releases.
Voluntary departure avoids formal removal orders and preserves future reentry options. DHS promotes self-deportation via the CBP Home app with incentives like a $2,600 exit bonus and free travel to those in detention. Immigration lawyers link the surge to fading court hopes, judge firings, and harsh facility conditions, as detention peaked near 73,000 people.
Well, a tradition unlike any other – Orlando gaydays has been cancelled for this year.
This one was just going to be for the LOLz, but I found out some things and now y’all are gonna find them out too.
This crap has been going on since 1991. Worse, it is now incorporated. And has corporate sponsors. Or did, they all – or most of them anyway – bailed for this year. The multi-day event once drew up to 180,000 visitors for park visits, parties, and Pride Month celebrations, boosting local businesses—now organizers scout new venues for a potential return.
President Trump signed a bill that requires the Social Security Administration to share its Death Master File with the Treasury’s Do Not Pay system, letting agencies verify recipients before sending benefits. Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), who sponsored the bipartisan bill, joined Trump at the signing and said it would stop using dead Americans to rip off taxpayers
I have to question why this wasn’t already a requirement. I know the answer, but still. . .
