Random News and Notes 7 February
We start this edition of RNN on a sad note. Football Hall of Famer Sonny Jurgensen has died. Jurgensen played for the Eagles from 57 to 63 and the Redskins from 64-74, made 5 Pro Bowls, led the league in passing 5 times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983.
Christian A. “Sonny” Jurgensen III was 91.

The Trump administration just got another legal win on the illegal alien front. The Fifth Circuit ruled 2-1 that ICE can detain illegals without bond hearings reversing a Texas district court. The 3 judge panel held that noncitizens present in the United States without admission are subject to mandatory detention without bond while removal proceedings are pending.
Expect to see an appeal of this ruling. It should be pointed out that the Trump admin has won nearly all these immigration cases once they get to the Appeals Courts.
Apparently the winter Olympics started? Outside of the hockey tournament, and maybe biathlon, I have no interest in the Games. The comments of the US athletes before any meds are handed out don’t help with my disinterest.
They should be put on a plane home immediately and never allowed to compete for Team USA ever again.
There were supposed to be a pair of F-22 fighters as part of the fly-over for the Superbowl. However, Air Force officials pulled the stealthy F-22s from Sunday’s historic joint flyover at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The reason is said to be rising operational needs, as confirmed by Sports Outreach Program manager Katie Spencer.
The event, marking America’s 250th anniversary, will still feature two B-1B bombers, two F-15C Eagles, two F/A-18F Super Hornets, and two F-35C Lightning IIs. The F-15s are subbing in for the 5th gen stealth Raptors.
