Random News and Notes 19 March
We start in DC where the House passed the so-called BOWWOW act. The act makes harming federal law enforcement animals like detection dogs or police horses a deportable offence. All the Republicans backed it, joined by 15 Democrats for a 228-190 vote.
The bill stems from a June 2025 incident at Dulles Airport where Egyptian traveler Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie kicked CBP beagle Freddie after the dog alerted to prohibited food in his luggage.
Back on October 10, 2025, Caden James Fontenette of Port Arthur Texas robbed Nederland’s Bulldog Express convenience store. He and two accomplices assaulted the clerk with rifles and fled with cash and goods. He pleaded guilty expecting a 5 year probationary sentence. Judge Raquel West imposed the 25-year sentence, rejecting probation due to the brazen violence, the victim’s fear, and Fontenette’s jail fights afterward.
. . .“There was a time some years ago that there really wasn’t even a question… State’s attorneys were recommending youthful offenders probation. Let’s give everybody an opportunity…” West said.
“You don’t have a good likelihood of being successful if I were to put you on probation… I’m going to sentence you to a term of 25 years.”
She isn’t wrong. Black teens offenders have the highest recidivism rates of any demographic group.
There is a conclusion to a defamation case that I’ve been keeping an eye on. Seven Adams County Ohio sheriff’s deputies sued rapper Afroman for nearly $4 million over parody songs like ‘Lemon Pound Cake’ that mocked a botched 2022 raid on his home, using real bodycam footage of officers finding no drugs or victims but causing property damage. The deputies claimed the millions-viewed videos humiliated them with accusations of theft and worse. The jury did not agree. They ruled in favor of Afroman in all cases.
If you are wondering why I wasted my time on this trial and your time with this piece, well first and foremost it is a 1st Amendment case. Then there is the fact that these particular deputies are whiny, thin-skinned pussies, and anytime that kind of crap gets exposed I’m here for it. And finally, it’s Afroman. The songs he made taking the piss out of the deputies were hilarious. Some of you may know him, but I’m guessing most of you don’t. Many of you will find that his music is not your cup of tea. Anyway, here is his best known song:
My governor is a retard, probably the most retarded of all the retard governors. While speaking at a politico event the other day she said this:
“I need people who are high net worth to support the generous social programs that we want to have in our state. Now, there are some patriotic millionaires who stepped up. OK, cut me the checks if you want to be supportive, but maybe the first step should be go down to Palm Beach and see who you can bring back home.”
“I have to look at the fact that we are in competition with other states who have less of a tax burden on their corporations and their individuals. And I would say remote work changed everything.”
“There were people who could only work in an office in Manhattan and work in New York state. And they were captives to our state, they were going to stay. We saw that that’s not the case. Wall Street businesses looking at Texas, they’re not going there because they have a nicer governor. They’re going there because of the tax rate.”
The data shows 1,679 millionaires left in 2024 and net outflows to Florida and Texas. I really need to get out.
Epic Fury News
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine gave remarks at the Pentagon. In those remarks he noted that A-10s an AH-64s were being used to take out Iranian drones and speedboats.
According to Caine, “The U.S. military dropped 5,000lb. penetrator weapons into underground storage facilities storing coastal defense cruise missiles. We continue to hunt and kill mine storage facilities and naval ammunition depots and afloat assets, including more than 120 vessels and 44 minelayers. We’re flying further to the east now, and penetrating deeper into Iranian airspace to hunt and kill one-way attack garrisons, destroying Iran’s ability to project power outside of its borders.”
Shortly after yesterday’s RNN went live the Iranians made what I consider to be their gravest strategic error so far: they hit Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, with ballistic missiles.
The Kingdom has the largest and best equipped Arab military in the region and has a leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Saud, who is now pissed off at Iran.
. . . “Saudi Arabia reserves the right to take military action against Iran,” and that Saudi Arabia’s patience, as it relates to ongoing Iranian strikes against the Gulf nation, is not “limitless.” This comes amidst reports that, behind the scenes, Saudi Arabia has been more hawkish on strikes on Iran while simultaneously urging deescalation in the public information space.
. . .Second glowing projectile: the incoming MRBM warhead descending toward the ground, evading the interceptor. Third glowing projectile entering from the right: very likely a Tamir interceptor launched from Iron Dome, approaching the MRBM warhead on a near-horizontal trajectory and successfully destroying it. In fact, you can see the interceptor’s flight path begin with a very shallow climb before reversing and flying toward the ground on a very shallow descent. The trajectory and intercept must have occured at the very limits of the system’s safety envelope.
