SCOTUS granted a writ of certiorari in Fischer v. United States on Friday. That case concerns the J6 charge of corruptly obstructing a congressional proceeding or investigation. That law, 18 USC 1512 (c)(2), is part of the Sarbanes Oxley accounting and corporate governance laws that were passed in response to the Enron/Arthur Anderson investigation. J6 prosecutors have been using that law as part of a charge stacking scheme. It seems however, that they may have overreached. SCOTUS has historically been leery of ambiguously worded laws such as this one. Oral arguments are scheduled for the spring session.

I feel I need to point out the fact that this case could have a huge bearing on Trumps legal issues in DC. The SCO has built the majority of his case on this law.

By now I’m sure most of you have heard of the incident with POTATUS motorcade in Delaware yesterday. If you haven’t, well, some dope drove into a Secret Service vehicle blocking an intersection. The Protective detail agents responded by pointing their guns as said dope and arresting him. It seems he was drunk at the time. That, however, is not the focus of this section. The Dotard in Chief was asked a question about losing to Trump in the polls mere moments before the crash.

There are a couple of things that stand out to me about this incident. First, the protective detail took their sweet assed time getting Biden into the Beast and out of the area. That’s Not Good. I am not and never have been a Secret Service agent, but I do have a LOT of protective detail experience, and in a fluid situation like that, you get your protectee off the X as fast as you can and let the rest of the chips fall where they may.

Second, according to RCP, there is only one poll, an NPR/Marist poll, that doesn’t have Trump, or any other R, beating Biden. The NPR/Marist poll has Biden up by one point, well within the margin of error.

The inbred goat f*ckers in Yemen have been acting up of late. The Houthis, an Iran backed and supported rebel group, have been attacking international shipping in the southern Red Sea and Bab el Mandeb strait. The attacks have, so far anyway, consisted of attempted boardings, ballistic missiles and drones. They managed to sink one vessel and have damaged several more. Several shipping lines, including the world’s largest, MSC, have rerouted their ships.

About 10 percent of the world’s sea traffic goes through the Red Sea. Rerouting ships around the Cape of Good Hope lengthens the trip by about twelve days, adding considerable cost to freight and disrupting supply chains. Maritime insurance rates started to increase after the first few attacks. They are now triple the rate from the beginning of October.

SecDef Lloyd is expected to announce a coalition naval task force to protect the shipping lanes in the Red Sea and Bab el Mandeb. From my perspective, unless and until the Houthis get to the Find Out part of the equation, nothing is going to change.

Despite the headlines you may have read, the Pope did not give the OK to blessing same-sex marriages. Look, I’m nominally a Catholic, and I dislike what Bergoglio is doing to the Church as much as anyone else, but even for him it would be a step too far.

The reality is a bit more prosaic. The ok was given to spontaneous blessings. They are limited to “the invocation of a blessing that descends from God upon those who recognizing themselves to be destitute and in need of his help do not claim a legitimation of their own status, but who beg that all that is true, good, and humanly valid in their lives and their relationships be enriched, healed, and elevated by the presence of the Holy Spirit. of those in same-sex relationships.” The Dicastery, a Vatican organization dealing with matters of faith, issued a supplemental clarifying the issue.

It seems to me, a layman, that the Dicastery is attempting to clean up yet another mess created by Bergoglio.

A 67 year old woman in Silver Cliff CO was attacked by a mule deer (read more about muleys in Walt’s Icons of the West article here.)this past weekend. The small buck, reported to be a spike buck, punctured the woman’s lung and caused severe bruising on her legs. Colorado wildlife officials are searching for the buck and plan on euthanizing it when they do find it. They believe this particular deer had been fed by humans and habituated to them.

There are a couple of lessons in this story. First, all wildlife can be dangerous. Treat them with the respect they deserve. Second, it isn’t good to feed most wild animals. As one NYSDEC biologist once told me, a fed bear is a dead bear. the same can be said of many other species.

The U.S. Secret Service has ended its investigation into the bag of cocaine found at the White House. As RedState reported, the illicit drugs were originally found on July 2nd, and the story kept morphing from there.

At first, the cocaine was claimed to have been “near” the White House (and that it wasn’t regular cocaine). A day later, a report came out that it was actually found in the White House Library with the implication being that a tourist left it behind. Next, we were told that the drugs were found at the West Executive Entrance. Lastly, the White House came out and said the baggie was placed in a cubby used to deposit electronic devices, with the blame being pointed at construction workers.

In other words, the entire situation has been an incoherent mess with a constantly changing narrative. That has made many suspicious and for good reason. Why would anyone believe anything the Biden administration has to say after taking people on that wild ride?

Sure enough, in a move that isn’t going to quell any doubts, the Secret Service has now concluded its “investigation” into the matter. Here’s the result per CNN.

The Secret Service has concluded its investigation into the small bag of cocaine found at the White House and has been unable to identify a suspect, two sources familiar with the investigation told CNN.

Secret Service officials combed through visitor logs and surveillance footage of hundreds of individuals who entered the West Wing in the days preceding the discovery and were unable to identify a suspect, one of the sources said.

Investigators were also unable to identify the particular moment or day when the baggie was left inside the West Wing cubby near the lower level entrance where it was discovered.

The second source said that the leading theory remains that it was left by one of the hundreds of visitors who entered the West Wing that weekend for tours and were asked to leave their phones inside those cubbies.

So let me get this straight. The cocaine was reportedly left in a security area where people deposit electronic devices. That would mean there would have been cameras everywhere. Further, the people that make it to that point would have gone through multiple levels of security beforehand. There are also visitor logs for all outside entrants to the White House.

And yet, we are to believe that they just couldn’t find the culprit? That they didn’t see a single suspicious person on camera? I mean, come on. I understand that it’s possible the cocaine was left by a visitor, but when you jerk people around like this and then just suddenly end the investigation by claiming nothing was found, people are going to roll their eyes.

We are talking about federal agencies that are supposed to be the best of the best. These are the people that protect elected officials and stop assassins. But they can’t figure out who left a bag of cocaine in a public area of the White House covered in cameras.

I’ll leave you guys to speculate as you see fit.

Dan Bongino Savages ‘Media Buffoons’ Whining…..

Dan Bongino Savages ‘Media Buffoons’ Whining Over Trump’s Drive-By Visit

Fox News contributor and podcast host Dan Bongino pulled no punches in his commentary of the fake outrage over President Trump driving by supporters outside of Walter Reed hospital. In his usual take-no-prisoners approach to the progressive left, Bongino explained why members of the corporate media are getting wrong on this latest nontroversy.

On Sunday, video footage showing the president being driven through the hospital’s parking lot by Secret Service agents was posted on social media. In the video, Trump can be seen waving to his supporters as they drove by.

It didn’t take long for progressives and their close friends and allies in the corporate press to clutch their collective pearls and scream, “oh my stars and garters” in response to the president’s horrific actions. Since they could not think of a valid line of attack against Trump, they resorted to pretending that they cared about the safety of the Secret Service agents that were in the car with him.

CNN published a piece in which it breathlessly argued that “his seconds-long parade only underscored the relaxed attitude toward transmission that appear to have landed Trump in the hospital to being with.” The author continued, pointing out that “the contained space inside the presidential limousine hardly allowed for social distancing from the driver and agent.”

A Secret Service agent working on the president’s detail told CNN, “that should never have happened,” and that the agents who drove the vehicle would have to be placed in quarantine. “I mean, I wouldn’t want to be around them,” he added. Another agent noted that members of the Secret Service would not have been able to object to this type of request, stating that “you can’t say no.”

However, the White House released a statement explaining that the president’s team took “appropriate precautions” to ensure that everyone would be kept safe. Indeed, the agents in the car were wearing medical gowns, respirator masks, and eye protection. Moreover, Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former 2016 campaign manager and an advisor to his 2020 re-election campaign stated that the agents involved volunteered to take Trump on the drive.

In an appearance on “Fox and Friends,” Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, was asked about the supposed controversy over the president’s short ride in the parking lot. When asked if he would be worried if he were one of the agents in the vehicle, he retorted: “You know Steve we don’t get to be worried because that’s not what we do. And this story is infuriating — infuriating.”

He continued, pointing out the media’s hypocrisy on the matter. “No one gave a damn about the Secret Service when the Secret service was at risk knowing where other protectees knowingly put them at risk in other situations.

Bongino recounted stories in which other agents were put in dangerous situations. “I didn’t hear any stories, Steve you remember the story about the friend of mine who caught chikungunya fever in Africa remember that one?” he asked. He continued:

“What about a guy by the name of Dan Bongino who’s on the fever in South Africa with another protectee? Remember that story? Yeah, you don’t remember that either do you? What about the hundreds of other agents who get sick every year traveling around the world for photo Ops to protect these from both parties? You know why you don’t hear about that story? Because that’s not what we do. we’re not a bunch of whiners.”

But Bongino didn’t stop there. The commentator continued, calling out the corporate press for attempting to turn this story into a controversy:

“So to these media buffoons —  you clowns who don’t know the first thing about honor dignity or courage, I know you wouldn’t get in that car with the president with a mask or a full bubble suit because you’re chumps and cowards and spineless losers — we all know that. But don’t you dare utter the word ‘secret service’ again because you know nothing about these men or women, why they do what they do, how they wound up in that car, why they did it and they would do it again tomorrow so how about you to shut your mouth, put your caboose in a chair, and sit this one out.”

Bongino is right, of course. Members of the Secret Service understand what they are signing up for before they join the agency. Moreover, one can easily see from the equipment that the agents were wearing that his team was taking precautions to ensure safety. The fact that they volunteered for this duty even further demonstrates the false concern that the left is displaying.

The reality is that the folks who are feigning outrage over this story care nothing for the agents involved. It is yet another obvious political attack from an increasingly desperate media apparatus that is dedicated to taking down the president. Unfortunately for them, they are only exposing their apparent bias.

Man Shot Near White House Identified

The man shot by a Secret Service officer outside the White House has been identified.

Myron Basil Berryman, 51 of Wheeling WV, had approached a secret service agent just outside the White House yesterday. He claimed to have a gun and moved towards the agent while making a motion like he was drawing a pistol. The suspect then crouched into a “shooter’s stance” and was then shot in the torso by the officer.

The incident caused an interruption of a press event inside the White House. Secret Service whisked the President away from the podium and into the Oval Office.
