A Florida man was bitten by a shark while on a fishing trip with his family.

Justin Stuller was swimming off the Florida Keys when he was bitten by an 8 foot lemon shark. The wound required two dozen stitches to close.

Stuller said he has encountered sharks before on similar trips, but he’s never been bitten before. At least, not by a shark.

“I did get bit by an alligator,” he said, showing the scars of both on his legs.

Like I said, time to take up knitting. . . .

Woman Killed by Shark in Maine

A swimmer in Maine was apparently attacked and killed by a shark this afternoon officials from the Maine Marine Patrol said. The attack happened off Bailey Island in Harpswell.

The woman, whose name is not being released until her family has been notified, was swimming off the shore near homes on White Sails Lane when a witness saw her being attacked by what appeared to be a shark.

A pair of kayakers brought the woman to shore and first responders were called to the scene. They pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Maine Marine Patrol is urging swimmers and boaters to use caution near Bailey Island until further notice — and to avoid swimming near seals or fish.
