Random News and Notes 2 July

There is a settlement in the CBS/60 Minutes Kamala Harris interview suit. President Trump sued the network after they edited the interview with the VP to make her look coherent. He alleged the edits amounted to election interference. Here is just one of the deceptive edits:

The initial suit was for $10 billion. The settlement, the full terms of which have not been finalized, begins with an initial payment of $16 million. A second payment is due in the near future. The settlement is to be used for Trump’s Presidential Library and to benefit conservative causes.

It looks like the FBI stonewalled an investigation into Chinese interference in the 2020 elections. The why is fucking astounding: They were protecting then-director Chris Wray. You read that right. According to internal FBI emails obtained and released by Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, the FBI stopped any investigation into potential Chinese election meddling to protect Wray after he testified that there was none in front of Congress.

If this is true, and it sure as hell looks like it is, people need prison terms. Long ones.

Here’s the problem, while the day-to-day agents and other employees are some of the best at what they do, the leadership – and this dates back to Hoover’s time – is more concerned about appearance than the actual duties of the Bureau. Maybe it’s time to blow it all up and start over?

According to CNN, this next item will cause the deaths of 14 million people worldwide over the next 5 years.

SecState Rubio announced that USAID has finally wrapped up operations.

The substack post is worth a read. But here’s the money-shot:

This era of government-sanctioned inefficiency has officially come to an end. Under the Trump Administration, we will finally have a foreign funding mission in America that prioritizes our national interests. As of July 1st, USAID will officially cease to implement foreign assistance. Foreign assistance programs that align with administration policies—and which advance American interests—will be administered by the State Department, where they will be delivered with more accountability, strategy, and efficiency.

We will not apologize for recognizing America’s longstanding commitment to life-saving humanitarian aid and promotion of economic development abroad must be in furtherance of an America First foreign policy.

I have to admit to not caring about this, but it is big national news so. . .

The jury in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs sex crimes trial has come in. It looks like he dodged convictions on the most serious charges.

Combs faces 10 years in the slam on each charge he was convicted of. A sentencing date has not been set yet.

Someone developed an app that gave real-time location data for ICE agents. The ICEBLOCK app crowdsources the locations and displays it on a user’s phone. Some smart anti-immigration folks have figured out that the app can be used to clear an area of illegals.

. . . Enter all addresses of major shopping areas. 5) Sit back – drink some “ice” tea – and watch the fun.

As of this writing the app is still available on Google Play and the Apple store.
