Random News and Notes 8 July

You had to know it was coming. The incident outside the Alvarado TX ICE facility was part of a larger plot. Acting US attorney Nancy Larson announced charges against 10 people involved in the plot to murder ICE employees.

Journalist Andy Ngo is out with a report that says the 10 charged are part of a North Texas AntiFa cell. Ngo is probably the preeminent AntiFa scholar out there, so I trust what he says about this one.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Defense Secretary Pet Hegseth and Attorney General Pam Bondi held a press conference this morning to announce plans to ban foreign ownership of US farmlands.

The Farm Security Action Plan lays out the plans to secure US farming and agriculture. Part of the plan is to “claw back what has already been purchased by China and other foreign adversaries.”

I (and WhyNot) mentioned Coast Guard PO Scott Ruskan yesterday. He rescued some 165 people in the aftermath of the flooding in Kerr County. Turns out he’s a humble dude too. He went out of his way to call the kids he rescued brave and saying they made him a better rescuer.

District judge Indira Talwani, an Obama appointee, issued a TRO yesterday blocking the part of the OBBB that defunded Planned Parenthood. How a federal judge for district of Massachusetts has the ability to issue such an order is beyond me, but here we are.

Keep in mind, the provision she stayed is part of duly enacted legislation and that Congress, specifically the House, has the exclusive power of the purse. I am not one that calls for the impeachment of district judges for things like this, however I am getting to the point where I think there need to be consequences for rulings – like this one – that strain the bounds of the judicial branch’s powers this much.

An employee of the Washington Post has been arrested and charged with possession of kiddy pron. Thomas LeGro was a video editor for WaPo before his arrest.

It seems that LeGro is the second WaPo employee to be charged with child sex crimes in the past few months. The other individual has not been named yet. It’s beginning to look like there is a pedo problem at the Washington Post. Nothing a wood chipper can’t fix though. . .

No shit.
