Random News and Notes 19 September
I told you about lefty loser Jimmy Kimmel getting pulled off the air after out-right lying about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Well, there is news about his ‘suspension’. It turns out, he was going to triple down on his ghoulish take and reprise the lies in what would have been his next broadcast.
It seems ABC senior exec Dana Walden called Kimmel to talk about his comments and it did not go well. Kimmel – according to sources – planned a ‘very hot’ monologue taking aim at MAGA. ABC was left with little choice to pull him according to reports.
This news is a big blow to the dumbasses – and there are plenty of them on our side – saying the FCC jawboned ABC into pulling Kimmel. Jawboning in this context is when a governmental agency uses their power indirectly to make someone do something.
I am not a fan of the regulatory state, and think agency heads etc, should tread lightly around issues like this. But the fact is, FCC Chair Brendan Carr did not influence ABC’s decision in any way. If anything, it was Sinclair, ABC’s biggest affiliate, calling for FCC intervention.
48 of President Trump’s nominees got pushed through the Senate last night. Majority Leader John Thune exercised the ‘nuclear option’ and changed Senate rules to avoid individual votes for minor appointees.
With a few exceptions for ambassadorships, all the nominees confirmed yesterday were for sub-cabinet positions. All I can say is it’s about time.
A group of NY and NYC officials decided to play FAFO with ICE. They lost. 11 elected state and city officials decided that their offices allowed them to demand entry into a federal facility. They were wrong. ICE arrested all 11 of them.
City Comptroller Brad Lander was among the officials who were arrested. Lander has been arrested previously for similar reasons. Also arrested were state Sens. Julia Salazar, Jabari Brisport and Gustavo Rivera, and Assemblymembers Robert Carroll, Emily Gallagher, Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas, Marcela Mitaynes, Claire Valdez, Tony Simone and Steven Raga.

This next one isn’t really news. But as Managing Editor and author of this particular post I get to decide what I put in and what I skip so. . . 😁
This a play in three acts.
Act 1:
Act 2:
Act 3:
Das Ende. . .
The UN security council allowed the ‘snapback’ sanctions on Iran to go back into place today. The council failed to pass a resolution to hold off on the re-imposition of sanctions againts the Mullahs nuclear program.
What does that mean? Not a whole lot. Russia and China, Iran’s two biggest trade partners will just evade the sanctions regime. Germany – well German companies – were already caught trading with Iran in violation of previous sanctions. There is no reason to think they will act otherwise this time around.
